Speaker Box Question
ok I have a question about speaker boxes. Right now i am running a single 8" sub in a tube with a 300 watt amp running 200 watts RMS. I have it faceing the spare tire well. It sounds pretty good. But i want more. Been thinking a loaded box with 2 12" subs what kind of box would be best. Bandpass? Ported? Sealed? Just wanted to know. Thanks.

My favorite setup was two RF 12" 400 watt subs in a sealed box with a 400 X 2 Kenwood amp. More than enough for an RX-7! Very loud, but very clean through the whole volume range.
I'm over that stage so I've been working on a stock appearing system with kick *** sound. Nothing too crazy.
Good luck!

Sealed Boxes are tighter, better for Metal, Jazz, Classical also require more power to get louder
Ported Boxes are looser sounding, better for Rap music, or music with alot of bass, as the port is tuned you will get bass spikes at certain frequencies (most rap and electronica are around 60hz in frequency) but requires less power to get louder at those frequencies.
BandPass is the middle of the top 2
Depending on what type of music you listen to should help you decide. If you get a High Quality of 10's it will be plenty loud and not take up much space, but the best thing to do is go listen to several different speakers (bring one of your CD's) and pick out what you like the best, and don't be afraid to turn up the volume in the store to see if they get sloppy.
