Ive noticed that the black metal part of the hatch on the FC is rusting. It doesnt look like surface rust judging by the fact that it is forming in clusters, seems like its coming from underneath. What do you think I should.

also... does washing the car accelerate surface rust that has already formed? (more water is coming into contact with bare metal) if so what should i do?

Clean off the rust with a light sandpaper. Then put a product called Royal Jelly on it it should stop any further rusting. paint it. Washing helps wash away oxidizers so it helps prevet rust. As does a good wax. Trust me I'm Minnesota the land of salt and snow.
