Soldering Wire Harness

Has anyone soldered a wire harness together? I am trying to make one good harness from 2 bad ones. Has anyone done this? If so how did it work? Any advice?
Thanks

If you're going to solder . You need electrical solder and not pipe solder. Get one that has about 60% tin and 40% lead or something close to it. I think most are 63% and 37%. The melting point will be low and will be easier to work with. If you've never soldered before, it's pretty easy. Try it as practice. Heat the meterial you want to join. The solder will not stick to a cold material. Place the solder tip on the wires and solder. Soon wil will melt and spread it over the area. You don't need to use too much. Proper solder is when it melts and dries, it's a shiny silver and not a dull solder. That will turn brittle and break off soon. I learned by trial and error.
I solder all my connections especially small 16 gauge wires.
By the way, make sure all wires are covered with heat shrink or good electrical tape. You'll go crazy trying to find a electrical short if a wire is grounded somewhere.
I use marine grade electrical wire since they're resistance to corrosion. Hope that helps.

Why don't you try to buy a new connector and crips and start over.

There's no reason why soldering a wire harness would not work as long as you get the connections right. See http://www.aaroncake.net/electronics/solder.htm for soldering instructions.
