silver carbon fiber FD
#26
The shop that sent the parts out is no longer and the owners had to leave the country. If you wanted to have this kind of work done, I would start looking at import car shows and ask around. The guy who did my metal polishing says his friend does outstanding work but I haven't seen her stuff. Shes here in Seattle, and if anyone is seriously looking-I'll give him a call and let you guys know. I don't know how busy Mark at carbon fiber parts .net is, he does great work from what I've seen. Check him out. And search the web, tuning shops, etc. Just be prepared to be w/o your interior for a few months. Something to do maybe during an engine rebuild. I paid $1100 to have mine done. The silver material and non-yellowing clearcoat makes going this route more expensive than the traditional blackish c.f. As far as what types of resin they used in Indonesia I don't know. The entire parts are coated with a flat black fiberglass material, then the carbon fiber comes in rolls and is wrapped over the parts. Then is encased in a clearcoat. I drew a picture of how the parts fit together for the installers also so they could match the patterns of the weave. Get everything done at once so you source only from one roll, for consistancy. Hope this helps.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Very nice work I must say. First of all, the material is not CF. It is aluminized fiberglass. It is called texalium. It is a 2 twill patterned FG cloth that has been coated with an aluminum dust. Its pretty cool. I am impressed because the Alum FG cloth I have is very stiff and is much harder to wrap than the regular graphite CF. There are many companies that sell resins that are clear and for many applications. Just got to find one that works for you. I like it alot as something different and was planning to do a few like this one myself. I am making the UIM covers in the silver as we speak. BTW, what the hell is a Foliatec resin/carbon system? I google searched and found nothing on this? Anyway, looks nice and lets me know that by me taking 6 weeks to do an interior is very much kicking some ***, even though it seems like forever. Thanx for the pics.

Here is a link to that foliatec system I was talking about

It looks like an overpriced overlay system. From what I have read it looks like the resin that is used in the kit isn't even epoxy because it calls for a 2% catalyst which is usually MEKP in either polyester or vinylester resin.
