Here's mine its simple and fits under the rear hatch cover. Hits really nice too..

Yea, but does it meet the minimum enclosure area required for TWO of those subs?

Yep and its packed with polystyrene so it actually seems a little bigger to the subs. I build all my boxs to jl spefications or the manufacters specs. For two 8's the subs are incredibly loud. You can hear them comming down the street , they shake the car and you can't hear yourself think. There is even space behind the box for the amp or cap or what ever you want to throw back there.

box is .66 ft3 if I remember correctly, I dont have the dimensions infront of me.

Wow...I guess JL's minimum required enclosure space varies greatly from sub to sub. The w6's and w7's require a LOT of space, and the magnet is MASSIVE...

Yep thats why I went with the w3's they can be in a very tight box and man they sound great.... JL allways makes me happy.
