Arrow Several painting questions

OK I am going to paint my fc around the middle of january. I have this compressor
http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS...gjl.0&MID=9876
.
IS this sufficient? would any hvlp gun do or will i need an expensive one?
My car is badly faded on the roof and hood. I just want to flash over the existing paint with the same color to make it look decent till I can afford a real paint job. I talked to the guy at www.automotivetouchup.com and he told me i wouldnt have to prime , just sand the existing finish with 600 grit. Will this work?

You should have enough air, just buy an inline filter for the airline when you paint. Clean the surface with wax and grease remover befor you sand. And make sure you fallow the directions on the wax and grease remover EXACTLY!! Or you will have solvent issues with the paint. Then lighly sand the surface of the existing paint. If you have any deep scratches you can feather edge them out, BUT you will have to fill that area with a heavy build primer then wetsand. But just spraying over existing paint will work fine.
