Serious body damage, what to do?

I have an 87 TII and I kinda wrecked the rear end into a pole. Well needles to say the damage is pretty bad and the body shop said it would be better to just cut the rear quarter panel off and replace it with a new one. I have also had the good old bondo will fix it if I get the right guy to do it. What do you peeps think should i spend the extra money to have a new quarter panel or should I go with the bondo.

Depends on whether the damage can be starightened reasonably well or not, and if you can do the work. Personally if its bad enough its almost worth just replacinmg the quater. No use spending 20 hours trying to fix something you could do in 4 or 5 if you had a new 1/4...

Yeah 1/4's are expensive, but what you need to remember is that when metal bends it streches, and if severe enough wont go back into its orginal shape. You then have to pull it out, bend it in, and fill it will filler. I recommend the usage of evercoat fiberglass, its a lot better than the average bondo but its a little more expensive... If you cant get the metal within' an 1/8 of an inch at most to its orginal shape, its time to consider a new panel, or you will have the problem with cracking, and tons of sanding... Good luck man,,,

I would go for the new 1/4 as the filler will never look right. Just make sure its done by a good Body Shop becouse if you dont get the sealer right its going to stand out like a sore *****.
