Scratch in Vert Targa Top

Scratch in Vert Targa Top
I got a Targa top for my vert out of the boneyard. Great condition with the exception of some minor scratches. Not very deep and about 3" long. I wonder if it would be OK to rub them out with wet-dry sandpaper? Any ideas on what might work better?
