Satellite radio worth it? Latest thoughts?
I like listening to the same type of music/talk radio while driving long distance.
There are some threads here on the subject, but not lately...
I've been thinking about install satellite radio in the car(s). The only draw back seems to be that it seems you need to install an individual base unit in each car even if you just want to buy one subscription and use it in multiple cars.
Has anyone purchased XM or Siris and regretted it?

I recently installed the XM radio in my car. The install is extremely easy and there where no issues when it came to getting it to work. Since I have had the radio I have started to realize that there lots of random songs on the different stations that you would normally not ever hear on the regular radio. The good news is that when you find a good station there are absolutly no ads.

I coped the sirius system and no lie it's get's much luv from me. You hear the same songs on the beat box like you have a normal tunner but then you can also peep new jump offs that may not have made main stream yet. Worth the chips....

I won't let go
Didn't one of them upgrade their transmission somewhat recently?
I've been kind of skeptical just because of the fact that I like quality in my music (read: sound quality). I had listened to it shortly after it was introduced and sounded like an OK encoded MP3 in that the high frequencies were kinda crappy. A little tinny and wavering. There was a lot of information lost in the compression. I hope that you know what I mean. I haven't listed to it since then, so I don't know if the quality has improved at all or not.
I guess it's worth it if you're fed up with commercial radio like I am. No commercials (for a lot of stations), a hell of a lot more choices in formats and the whole consistancy thing across the country is good too. I guess tunnels and other high interference areas might have adverse effects, but I guess, on the assumption that the quality has been improved it's a good deal.

I have an iPod....i dont need XM radio, lol. But saying i didn't, im also pissed about how many commercials they have on FM radio, so i might have ended up looking into it. But for a flat $350, you can get a 15gb ipod that'll hold all of YOUR favorite songs, no commercials, and no subscribers fees

for all of you that did get get sound or reception
try listening to an alpine with tuner controlled by the headunit.
the advantage of satalite radio is greater when you are out of a major metro area, because the station selection stinks.
satalite radio is the best thing that has happened to the automotive radio system.

What I want satallite for is 50's - 80's music, Eagles football, Phillies baseball (I don't know if these sports are available), and NPR.
Whenever I make the 1000 mile trip from SC to MA and to other places I travel, there are many spots where all you can get is country twang, rap, or god help me - religious broadcasts. Having satallite will free me from this axis of evil.

my brother's G35 came with the Sat radio.. it's good I guess.. but I wouldn't go buy one for my car.. he lives in the city and it cuts out very often.. in the tunnels of course.. on the GWB.. near trees or tall buildings parking garages.. I mean if it came with the car.. then yeah.. but I wouldn't go out and buy one. just my opinion

I recently got it for christmas and absolutely love it. I love the fact that when you hear a good song you can look and get the song name so i can later download it and put it on my ipod. basically you can put the antenna anywhere u want. the magnet on it is very strong.
