s5 vert sound system. i don't even know where to start.

I've been without any tunes in my vert since august when i bought the car.
originally the car had the 2 door speakers and then the headrest speakers.
the previous owner took the vert seats out when he put in the black turboII interior and seats.
I plugged the wiring harness back into the factory CD/tape deck and got it to power up. the tape deck and cd deck don't work at all. you put a tape or cd in, the deck just spits them right back out.
the radio works... but the only audio i'm getting out of the door speakers is the bass.
I'm probably getting a newer headunit soon, but as far as the wiring goes. if i wire it up like it's supposed to be wired, will i still only get the bass channel out of the door speakers? would i be better off, just running new wire to the door speakers to make sure i get the full range of audio out of them?

Yeah if you wire everything back up the way it came factory (or even run new speaker wire to all your speakers... i recommend) you should get audio out of the speakers. and the reason ur driverside door is only giving you bass is most likely cuz it blown.

its not just the drivers side door, its both door speakers.
I didn't know if the factory system was setup so that you get bass through the door speakers and everything else through the headrest speakers.
if i'm supposed to get the full range through the door speakers, im guessing my headunit is toast.

monkhommey, if you want the stock headunit, PM me. hope you can fix it though!

on that same note. I have the same vehicle and the radio continues stops working. I haven't had time to actually look at it but it works for like a day and goes out. Wont even power on. The fuse keeps blowing. Or I should say A Fuse keeps blowing. Should I pull it out and check the wiring?? Or what?

hey i kinda got banned for a couple weeks so i didnt get your PM. i also cant send pms until i get 15 post.. but i think i can recieve them. send me a messege with what you want for the stereo, and a number or email address so i cant get into touch with you.

splitzo:

what fuse are you blowing? that is a sign that you have an intermitent short to ground. i would definatly check it out. i doubt it has anything to do with the stereo unit. if you remove it and see some shady wiring then that is probably the issue. but if it looks good then you will probably have to do a little more searching

Alright I last posted a WHILE ago. I just got around to checking the radio. I see no blown fuses.... Don't see any problems with the wiring. Anyone know of where I should check to find the problem? I have had some other problems which I thought were wiring problems but turns out that the switches were VERY funky. So I cleaned all those up and those things worked fine. Still just no idea what to do with the radio.
