s5 vert new speaker advice(from experience)

ive been trying to figure out the best way to liven up my verts audio. after researching all the options online, i was going to start with adding a good sub setup/amp. i wanted to keep the look sorta hidden. to do this id have to keep a/the sub/subs under the back(spare tire) deck, and from the size alotted and my experience with some subwoofers, i figured 2 8s or a 10. after realizing that any subs under that deck would vibrate the deck to hell(causing bad sound) ifigured id go with 2 8s under the deck but with the speakers above the deck(the box being below) i figure the most bang for the buck would be to richen up the existing sound with some good bass(not to break the windows) so i go out to get what i know is a great set of 8s...jl audio 8w6(new version is 8w3) i stumble across the component set that i always thought would be best for the vert the jl audio 653 xr..it has a 6.5 woofer..a 4inch mid and a seperate tweet(for both sides ofcoarse). the guy was from an authorized dealer of jl and he sells me a slightly used set for 200 bucks..they retail at around 500 bucks and ive seen them on ebay for around 300 bucks. i put the 6.5 in my doors hooked up to the factory stereo and the 4 inchers hooked up to the factory stereo in their factory spot...i hook up a wire to the 4 inch output that is crossed over for mids and highs(from the factory stereo),i take this extra wire and hook it to the input of the 3 way crossover(from jl audio, for the components) and connect the tweets to the tweet output of the crossover. this setup sounds SOOO F-ING good in my car!!! a little bit more bass(lowwwww end) will make this perfect(the 8 w 6 will easily cover this )

right now without an amp/only 3 speakers per side hooked up to the oem radio...you would not believe the sound quality!! unbelievable difference...1000 times betterif you can get them on ebay for the 300$ price...do it

it sounds expensive but if you do the math..or buy 6.5 and 4 plus great tweeters that you can add onto later thats 6 speakers total and a great programmable crossover. man for the money i swear its gonna take your breath away..i never bought before because i thought i could do the same cheaper with misc seperates or coaxes..this system is tight!! in the doors just screwed right in the bass is not that of a sub but really close.

i couldve added some subs and an amp and probly been happy but not for the money.

my next step is a pioneer 760 amp thats only 100 bucks(on ebay) saw the same amp today at a shop for 400 bucks..its a 4 channel (perfect for the vert cuz theres no speakers in the rear) ill run the components on the front channel and the soon to be added woofers on the rear channel, then wire the headrest speakers into the soon to be aquired pioneer deh7400(220 bucks, on ebay again)this head unit does the cd/mp3 and can control a tv!!after all is said and done its gonna be close to 1000 bucks. but if i keep it the way it is now i could definately be happy DEFINATELY!! and only be out the 200 bucks!! but this amp has .008thd at rms...i just looked and its only a 2 channel amp 125 x 2..190x2 max but ill get 2 amps one for the speakers and one for the subs for 200 bucks..that brings me to the 1000 dollar mark

just hooking the factory stereo up to this amp and the jl 3 way components is only around 400 bucks and the sound will be even better!!

my suggestion is start with the components(300 bucks)save up 100 bucks more get the amp(that could be enough ive never heard the comps hooked up to the amp yet) if not the n spen 300 more on another amp and 2 8w6 subs then top it off with a new head unit the deh 7400 (220 bucks) soon after this is all done i might add 2 sets of 3 inchers for the headrests they were like 50 bucks a pair on ebay(of coarse) i think they were alpine but i cant find em now on ebay i saw them ysterday

i spent 1000 bucks on my z 2 years ago to get a 5 channel alpine(frv453)90 to the sub then 4x300 for the others, 2 4 inch kicker impulse coax, 2 6.5 impulse coax, and a 12 infinity kappa in a prefab box (plain, no custom) it sounds good but the set up in my vert is imaging way better than my z sounds

sorry so long a post but i wanted to give the vert owners a good idea on how to get their car to sound beautiful...since i already spent the money(and didnt think itd be worht it)

any questions feel free to ask or pm me..this was not a sudden idea... ive been thinking about it and researching it for awhile now.

pleasantly surprised
