ok so iv decided to convert my 86 hard top n/a to a full s5, so far i put on an aluminum hood from a vert me and my friends parted out, i pretty much can get mirriors, rear and front bumpers and side moldings, quetion is iv searched around and cant find anything on conversions cuz im looking for information if id have to replace my fenders from the front bumper????? i want to be sure b4 i put hard cash into this, iv been told id have to cuz the fenders aint the same, then again i have a buddy with a s4 with an aftermarket s5 corksport front bumper. idk want to think but yea any hard written or pix of anything that might help??????

there is no difference in the fenders except the mounting points for the moldings.

the s4 bumpers had a rubber strip on them while I dont think the s5s do, I think that is where the confusion lies. Mazda did not make the fenders physically larger to fill that thin rubber strip in..

you can always put the rubber strip on the s5 bumper, its only stapled in from the factory on the s4s.

 

yea, also i was just told that the s5 fenders are wider then the s4's

 

actually i have an s4 on the passenger and s5 on the drivers on my 88, to me it looks like the s5 fender is alittle off and also s4 doesn't have the thick paint section at the bottom like s4, just my observations though

 

I remember one of the 2nd gen mods saying it doesn't line up perfectly witht he door?? PM a mod or something.
