Stuff like that actually bothers the hell outta me. You should see the extensive amount of bodywork I've had done to my car. But all the guys who went with me to Rotary Revolution and the Carlisle Sport Compact Show etc know, I definetly don't treat the car like no show car. I thrash her...because that's why I bought the car in the first place.
Speakin of which, I remember in that very same article where 800 hp was claimed, the mag. asked for a burnout...and he said no, the tires are too expensive...LOL. What a waste.
Was Crashunit's car also a trailer bitch?

Functional or not, that silvery blue 7 is sick, mind the wing. Wing sucks. Alot of you have the jgtc body and I dont see any of you headlining any race events. Dont be hypocrites. I have an INGS body and Im not about to go drifting. Big deal.

There are a couple pics of my car on the forum. Look for 'em. And in case you didn't understand my previous post, here's a clarification:
- Ricers (civic/neon drivers, etc) buy NON-functional parts. Eg. your APC chrome extinguisher, a rear spoiler for a front wheel drive car, exhausts for sound not performance, flame throwers, external tachs that go to 14K rpm, when their redline is at 6.2K rpm, etc. They basically buy stuff that "looks cool" but won't/can't help their car's performance.
-FDs usually don't have non-functional equipment on them. The parts they get ARE fully functional, but once you get into the beauty contest, your fully functional parts ARE NEVER USED. Ie, if you have an FD that may very well make 800rwhp, but has never seen the track, let alone the road, that's just sad. You have an extinguisher (which may very well be necessary in an FD) but you put 20 miles a year on your FD, that's retarded. You have a real big spoiler that may very will give you lots of downforce, and your rear diffuser helps eliminate turbulence at high speeds, but you've never driven faster than 5mph from the flat bed through the car show doors....THAT'S what I'm talking about.
I'm not claiming that my car is the mother of all performance cars. But the vast majority of my parts & mods are for performance...and sure, what's for show is for show (eg the doors), but that doesn't mean that my car's gonna become a trailer queen because of it. In fact, last night I lost my right tailight cover after some spirited night driving haha

FDNewbie, I take it by your above explanation that you don't appreciate show cars/trailer gueens? Soo how do you feel about low-riders? Also what do you think about the few people who spent a million dollars for the Enzo and will only put maybe 100 miles a year on it? I'm asking these questions because not everyone buys a particular vehicle solely based on what it was orginally designed for.

Well yea, but those are old pics. Back then they were cool. If those were taken last week then you made your point.

- Easiest stuff first. I think it's retarded to spend a couple hundred grand on a car and put like 100 or even 1000 miles a year on it. In almost all these cases, they're performance cars, so they were built for speed. In many cases, they're racecar technology sold to the masses (the Saleen Mustang, for eg., or the Porsche Carrera GT, etc.). So they're built to drive. Parking it at home 24/7 to show it off to your "colleagues" and taking it out on the occassional monthly get-together and just that is a huge waste of time, money, technology, and well, a car. A car's built to get you from Point A to Point B - regardless of what those points may be (track, home, school, work, scenic routes, whatever). But it's just not built to stand there and look pretty. Sure, some may argue that those expensive cars are simply status icons and are actually built to be garaged lol. I'd say that's a sad waste of lots of research and development...
-Lowriders, umm...if you're talkin about the pickup trucks, it's not my thing, but hey, at least the truck is being driven! lol. But if you're talking about say, a Fleetwood or a Caddie, on some nice dubs, hey, I think that's exactly what those cars were meant to do...turn heads.
So in short, while people obviously don't use cars in the manner they were built, I'd like to see people actually *USE* their cars, ya know?
I dunno what it is, but somewhere along the line, we've developed a bad habit (IMHO) of using least what we pay for the most. It just doesn't make sense to me...cuz I figure if I'm going to shell out big for somethin, hell, I'mma get every last cent's worth outta it. So it better be worth it in the first place. Hence why I have an FD.
PS...I dunno about you, but it does **** me off to see 60 year old guys driving 45 on the right lane of the highway in their lambroghini or ferrari, and that being their 3rd time in 2 years to drive it at that...They're practically taking it out for a spin just so it remains in running condition, that's all.

I can't believe someone put CrashUnits FD in this thread, his FD is simply awsome. Yah, people may not like this or that on his car, but damn, to put that awsome machine on the "Rx7 list of Shame" is just wrong, but I guess everybody is entitled to their opinion. Just my 0.02

OMFG!! Seriously, if i ever see a FD with those tails, i dont care if i get arrested, im bashing them out.
Seriously the day FD's become known as a ricer car, im buying a ferari or porsche. Aside from all my other reasons of why i love my FD, one key reason is that they arent too affordable like a cibic and ricers do not own them. If they do, the engine is blown or they are spending money on the engine and not cosmetics, which is fine with me. I cant stand it when im in my del sol and some ricer with dual fart cans, triple decker wing, black car with white or stylish blue unpainted bodykit, and numerous neons revs up on me. Its soo annoying and at the same time its like, damnit im in a honda too. Only difference is my del sol pulls mid 12s and their car runs 19s like the wheels he is running...
Pretty much all the FD's around my house i see are stock in appearance, which is pleasing to me. Imagine what one real tuner such as us would think if we saw a 360 modena with one of those big aluminum wings? Or a GT2 on 22's with hydros. Even a c5 or z06 vette with a big *** alum wing, why do people choose to kill the FD, supra, 300zx, basically all imports amoungst other cars? granted a ferari, porsche, and vette pretty much come striaght from the factory with perfection and there is no need to try and improve on it. Same with the FD, but people still think its needs a bodykit that IS NOT TESTED IN A WIND TUNNEL OR FOR ANY OTHER POSITIVE AERODYNAMICS, and probably ruins the aerodynamics of the stock form of car as it is.
Take Dcrosby's car, used to have a flashy hood(or still does?), but its more than functional, the rotary engine runs hotter than a piston engine and he addressed the issue. His rims are tuner rims, not 19s, wider than stock im sure, and lighter, thats perfect. Im sure he has a full exhaust system and not a fart can, once again function. He doesnt have a bodykit, stock lip--function and not out of place. the sleek headlights, lighter than stock, 100% more aerodynamic than stock at night and looks clean. He addressed the poor night vision of the FD with those lights and the fogs. Stock wing not only fits the car, but just by looking at it, one can see it reduces lift. IMHO he has a very ideal, well thought out, roll model for the FD, and a not overdone/ricey car by any means.
It digusts me when i see FD's destroyed by owners that dont understand proper modifications and/or the functionality of them.
I saw a silver Rx7 near my house in Schuamburg IL, i was like, WOAH the rare silver color.... Then i saw the 19s on stock suspension, the ugly blue headlight bulbs, the supra style wing, and topped off with a FART CAN. NOT EVEN A FULL EXHUAST SYSTEM. No taste, no talent, no brain, and another FD ruined
Ok im done pissing off hot air, il go back in the garage and continue spraying,,,, paint for now, nitrous for later
