Rub strip removal Q's

My black rub strips have started to come off on my passenger side, so I've decided I want to remove them entirely. Whats a pretty good method for removing them and stripping the leftover adhesive strips without screwing up the paint?

WD40 and carefully using a new razor blade. BTW they make decal remover and sticker remover, may work better.

goo gone might act as a paint stripper though.

I've used regular goo gone on painted metal before and it didn't harm it. Not to say the extreme won't though.

plastic scrapper type object, I'm sure you could find something at harbor freight or sears etc. basically its a foam-like adhesive junk. Grab a heat gun, some WD-40 and some sort of plastic prying/scraping device and work a little at a time.
