Restoring paint

I've decided to attempt to restore my paint myself (swirlie marks)... for the cost ($400), i can do exactly what the body shop does, and that will buy me a buffer and whatever amount of polishing compound i want!! It's just time consuming more than anything.

Anyways my question is what are some good brands of polishing compounds? I'm talking the stuff that's fine grit that dulls/flattens the paint.

Any tips?

Thanks!
-Ross
