Question Replacing 87 GXL factory Clarion

I am looking to replace the factory Clarion cassette player in my 87 FC. Does anyone have a suggestion on a combo CD/cassette player? Crutchfield doesn't list any of the 2xDIN systems as working in this car, but I know someone out there has done this already! I haven't decided how much I'm wanting to spend yet (may decide once tax refund comes in...), so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Any suggestions about the speakers? One of the factory amps is blown in the rear, so I am going to have to do something about that soon. Currently disconnected the one speaker, but makes a long trip even longer.

Pioneer FH-P8800 $1000+
Pioneer FH-P4100 $500

DPX-6020 CD-Cassette Receiver $950.00
DPX-4020 CD-Cassette Receiver $450.00 - $550.00
DPX-MP4030 CD/Cassette/MP3 Receiver $450.00 - $500.00

these are double din but will probably require a custom install. Prices are MSRP and can be found for alot less.

Another option is the Blaupunkt single din cassette with the IDC-A09 single din 5 disc changer. I am using a simular (single CD with changer) setup in my 87 GXL. I built an adapter out of lexan and painted it black. If you want a pic I can email you one. I paid about $400 for the reciever and changer.

Out of curiosity, why do you need a tape and CD? Who still uses tapes??

Thanks for the info! BTW, Addict, I still have several cassettes that i enjoy, just don't want to cough up the $$ to have the same on CD. Once the tapes get so bad, I guess I won't have a choice then, will I??

Schexy1, how about drop a photo of your install so I can get an idea?

This is my first RX7, and am highly impressed with it. It's bone stock GXL NA, with 86K miles on it.
