repaint advice/easy color to change
Between black, montego blue, and red, which is the easiest color to change?
For many years I have been cautioned that changing the color on a car is expensive (duh!) and can never really be done well...it always fails under close inspection, unless it is very close to the original color.
Since then, I have read some comments elsewhere about "to do it right" you need to remove the glass, do the jams, etc. (doing the door jams seems obvious to me)
So, my next question, in theory, and money were not a serious obsticle, how would you "do it right"? Not to do it myself, but to describe what level of detail to a paint shop.
Thanks,
BTC

I really wouldn't worry about what color is easier to change, There all about the same. I've repainted and changed the color of my del sol from red to yellow which would most likely be the hardest but the process is the same no matter what colors your changing. They will spray your car with a netural colored primer first so everything covers up well and it also fills in little scratches.
To do it right you have to stripe the car and I mean every thing. The dash, motor, wiring harness, glass, all interior, lights. It all has to go and I even do the suspension along with the front and rear bumpers. Make sure you do a good pre sanding and primer job. Make sure they use many coats of base and clear. Some places will cut corners and ounly use 1 or 2 coats of clear but you want more like 5-7 then a good wet sanding. Also either get the paint baked on or don't drive it for like 2-3 weeks after everyhting is painted.
If you want to save some money stripe the car yourself as much as possible. All you need to drive is a seat and steering wheel.
If you have to explain to your paint shop how to do a good paint job you shouldn't be taking your car there. Alll you should have to say is I don't what to see its original color anywhere.
