Remove Paint from Calipers
Remove Paint from Calipers
I painted my stock calipers about 2 years ago. It was one of the first things I did to my car as I saw Dale's site and just thought it was great. Well I could have done a better job as well as a nicer paint. The paint has also gotten dull and not shiny. How can I remove this "Tester's Acrylic Red Paint"? Can I use a chemical? Would I wire brush attachment to drill work? What would work best?
What I would really like to do is remove the caliper's completely and sand them down to make the surface smooth. Then paint with a caliper specific paint. But Idk if I have enough time to completely remove them. Maybe I will. Who knows.

a wire wheel on a drill with proper eye protection would be enough to take car of the job quickly, be careful, wire wheels are brutal, in fact i think they make nylon versions now.
I actually did a better search and you can remove it with paint remover. I just gotta learn how to bleed my brakes so I can remove them completely and paint. I've never done the brakes before. I'm gonna use the duplicolor red caliper paint
+1. Any chemical paint remover will react with the cast aluminum Oem caliper and will need a rebuild if you get any on the rubber seal area.
i have a set of fd calipers that i have tried both chemical and sandblasting and the result of the sandblasting is the way to go.
best of luck
