Re-Finishing Stock FD Front Running/Turn Signal Lamps and Reverse Lights
My turn signal lamps and backup lights were really hazy and kinda yellow. Their was condensation building up in my turn signals. The backup lights in the rear bumper were really hazed over. Well I read a little something and decided to try it out. Turned out it worked. So here's what you do.
Materials:
Philips
2-3 Cloths
Metal Polishing Compound
Black Silicone Sealant or Clear
Remove front signal lamps from front bumper. Then unclip the lens from the housing. Clean off any dirt from the edge and groove of the lens. Next, apply polishing compound and polish the lenses. Then use another cloth to buff it out. Do about 3 passes to get the best result. Finally, apply black silicone in the housing groove that the lenses sit it. Essentially what you are doing is waterproofing the housing so you don't get any condensation...That's it for the front.
For the reverse lights. Remove them from the bumper. Then apply compound and polish the lenses and use another cloth to buff out. 2 passes should be enough for the rear. Use a toothpick and/or cotton ear cleaners to remove any polishing compound remaining in creases.
What you should end up with in the front is some new looking lenses. If you used black silicone then their should be a black outline around the lens. I think this looked pretty cool and gave it a bit of an updated look.
In the rear you should have the same results with a "white" reverse light lens instead of a dull off white.
I'll try to get some pics up later.
