The RE bumper is a copy of the 99 OEM bumper, sans the plate holder. It mounts to all the same points, with all the stock hardware as the 93 bumper.

People keep saying to "cut" the plate holder off the 99 rebar. I used a sanding disc & got a smooth contour.

You either remove the tray from the 93 radiator shroud or get the 99 shroud.

Also get the oil cooler/brake duct corner plastic pieces. Otherwise you will be able to see the ground through the openings in the bumper (tacky)

ptrhahn- I bolted the bumper up in about 10 minutes once all the brackets were in place, it fit fine, like I said- about the same as any OEM bumper.

maybe the car that was getting the bumper in that thread had some damage in the past that was complicating things.

How 'bout a pic of that... maybe your definition of "fit fine" is different than mine. Both mine and the other guy's car that my shop did together are both pristine never-wrecked cars. Both suffered the same issue. If you cinch it all the way onto the fender, it over hangs into the wheel well, and there were major sags and too-large gaps around the headlights.

Actually not quite. The RE Bumper has a urethane center bracket that mounts in the middle by the hood latch. The stock is that aluminum piece with the holes in it.

I can send larger ones that show more, unless I go to the trouble of resizing
I have a good one looking straight down, but its huge
trust me, I know what fits and what does not fit.

Once again. I love the piece, commend Chuck for producing them, and would buy one again knowing what I know now, but they are FAR from an OE bumper as far as fitment goes. Check out this thread to see what could happen if you just bolt the thing on:

I'm confused. You are complaing about how far it is from OEM fitment but also compliment Chuck for producing this product? How about just asking Chuck to produce a better product? I spent way too much trouble with the RE 99 style bumper. Ended up going with a real 99 bumper. You spend half the time and money for the real stuff. And the license plate holder doesn't look that bad anymore.

Well, I think the plate holder looks like absolute ***, and can't believe A. Mazda made it that way, or B. Anybody likes it. The RE isn't perfect, but it still looks better than the old 93-95 i had on there, and isn't fiberglass.

Nope... wish I could. Once grad scholl starts back up, i'm stuck local :-)

The pic was from the Porsche club event I ran w/ Fritz. You'll note the Jean Alesi head lean necessitated by my lack of harnesses and leather seats.

I agree with ptrhahn, this bumper is a pain in the a$$ to install but I'm still glad to have gotten it. It was worth the time and energy to get it to fit right and to not have the grotesque plate holder hanging off the front.
It can be fitted with some pulling and pushing and a few well placed bolts and washers.

^^ aparently, you gotta know what you are doing to install the RE 99 style and have it look good. Congrats

I still haven't installed mine but I'll guess I'll find out soon enough.
