Quick speaker question

I have a '94 with the bose system. I want to replace the door speakers with a pair of Infinitys. The ones I am looking at are 6 1/2 with 2 1/4 mounting depth. I tried searching and all I really came up with was that the bose models needed shallow speakers. Does anyone know if the 2 1/4 will work without any major cutting? Thanks.

6.5" speakers with 2.25" depth will fit fine in the doors of cars that don't have the Bose system. However, I think the cars with Bose have different mounting pods and smaller 4" (?) speakers from the factory. You might need to make your own mounting plate, modify the Bose to accept much bigger speakers, or get some mounting plates from a non-Bose car.

You will probably also be facing some electronic challenges. I believe the Bose electronics don't match well (result: plays too quiet, I think) with "normal" speakers.
