Question in regards to installation of a new head unit

Guys, what the hell was mazda thinking with this bose system.... Im sure everyone that has installed a head unit on their own knows what im speaking of in regards to the question below:

Almost ALL head units, except for I guess the stock bose one have a female adapter on them from which a male adapter is plugged in, apparently bose decided to make theirs permanant... Well I solved that problem fortunatley, I cut the wire from the origional head unit, and the end that I cut put a male adapter on to plug into the head unit....

my problem is that, at the other end there are TWO wires, what the hell is the deal with this and are both of the wires needed, so far I have from the head unit the wire running to one of the other wires but the other one has nothing to connect to.. I'm getting power, and i can see from the display that the radio is working, but the speakers arent workign at all.... is the other plug for powering the amp???? somone please help me with this......

pretty much, just tell me how i can get a new head unit to work, I KNOW THE QUALITY OF THE SOUND WILL BE SHITTY BUT IM GETTING NEW SPEAKERS IN 3 DAYS SO SHITTY SOUND IS FINE WITH ME TILL THEN... I JUST NEED MUSIC!!!!
