Question for Ppl w/ 8" subs in FC

Anyone put 8" subs in the shock towers in the back of their FC's ??? How does it sound? Does the fact that the enclosure is more of a free air setup than a sealed box affect the sound? I want to put RF Punch 8" HX2's into the towers, will those big magnets fit?
Thanks

Not enough air space.

I fiberglassed the area to make it a sealed enclosure on my sport, the problem is that at the largest it is less than 1/3 sq Ft. Not to many woofers work well in that little of an area, even with stuffing. 8" woofers were a nightmare, and just too big. 7" woofers (like some of the DynAudio, Focal and Scan Speak speakers) worked better but wanted more air space.

What worked the best and gave the best bass was a JL or MB Quart 6.5" woofer with the area ported to 45Hz (which ate up even more of the volumn).

But you are kidding yourself if you are expecting any real bass to be coming from there.

Thanks...It was just a brain fart. I dont really want a box in my trunk, but I want good bass. Now I have a 10" JL and it sounds real good...I just dont like the box there...I like a clean hatch area.
