Question Question about Woofer Enclosure insulation

Ok so I have an 8'' Rockford subwoofer, and im looking into buying an enclosure for it. I already found one I like for a fair price, but there was something else I am wondering about.

Now I am no expert when it comes to car audio so bare with me. Ive heard that you have to put some kind of insulation inside of the enclosure so that way the bass will sound clean and accurate, and not echoy/boomy. Whats the best type of insulation to use inside of the enclosure that wont hurt the Sub, is cotton ok?

I've never had insulation in a box.

I did some more reserach just now, and found out that insulating a sealed box will only benefit me, if the box im buying will be slightly smaller then the woofers recommendations. The box I want to buy is actually gonna be a slightly larger then the specs call for, which means that using insulation in my case wont help me at all.

Thanks for the comment, im probably not gonna use insulation

You are correct. Its called polyfill, insulation can be used, but its more expensive actually. You put it inside boxes that are smaller than recommended specs. If you are buying a box, it should be in the specs of the sub. Most pre-built boxes do.
