Question about FD body paint

I have see couple FDs including my, the paint of Lower door portion looks winkle, something like orange peel. Anyone knows why? or simply just everyone got a bad paint job on the same spot? Thanks

isnt that a protectent to protect from chips and what not?

I dont think so. It's the paint. not a layer of plastic.

Rock guard. NA miatas and My NB miata has it too. Just the lower area. If im not correct, i THINK my FC had it too.

it is just to help it from being noticably chipped up from rocks and such. They all have it unless you have a repaint and have them remove it.
