Thanks Eddie!

Just brought over this mazda speed downpipe for a fellow forum member, pretty rare piece, MSRP was something close to $1500. I also have a titanium re-amemiya exhaust coming in soon that will be for sale, the downpipe has been sold.

Have only seen a few 18" bbs lm's on fd's, but never 19", the 19's make the spokes much more "full" and proportionate, the step-lip should help make the wheel appear smaller than a typical 19" too..

It is funny you show this Porsche - I used to see that guy driving around on the UT campus. He used to park near Dobie I believe

Ganesh,

I have been thinking, maybe I should just fly you out here and you can build my car. lol. We are always on the same page.

It will be LOW, probably on a set of Ohlins, Zeals, Quantums or Aragosta's; it just depends on what I can find and for how much.

Me too! They are something like $5,000, and they hold their value indredibly well, specfically 19's. Should run me close to 3 grand, for used ones from the motherland.

There are plenty of samples of 7s that look hot with 17s or 18s. I can't say the same for a seven with 19s....not one.

.

Have you considered Penske 2/3 way or JRZ suspension? They make a lot of stuff to order and it's pretty damn good stuff too. Aragosta and Quantums are a little bit more difficult to service here in the states. The Ohlins and Zeals are great options too with plenty of US support.

I have a tendency to think of too many different cars and how i would build them. Some people think i am insane or some people really like my style as it can be over the top sometimes. I want someone with a white ron fellows edition C6 Z06 to let me run amok with it because i know exactly what i would do if i had one. LOL. I am just a loser with too many ideas and too much free time.

I can't wait for new wheels for the GT-R. Probably SSR Professor MS-1s. (I might actually even go 17s so i can go lower for the street. Buy a set of 18s for the track later (so i can run a fatter tire and raise up the car for track).

Dont forget THIS IS NOT A TRACK CAR, I can 100% be objective to 19's on a track car.

The problem is, Penske and JRZ are WAY out of my budget, especially for a street car. I can get any Aragosta, Zeal suspension etc for less than $1500. Nice, never have seen the ms-1's in person, and they are not overly expensive either.

Miata_mx5 03-04-09 05:39 PM

D-CUPS's FD has pretty spot on fitment.

DCUPS is the only one that I would agree with you on. Hey, are you still sporting the automatic transmission and lambo doors on your ride?

Question:
What is the benefit of having a downpipe that seperates into two piece? (Just curious, as I've never seen that before.)

No and tentatively no, I am collecting parts for the 5 speed swap, it will go in this summer with a knight sports or blitz single turbo and pfc / tune. Thanks for calling me out though.

Better flow, and maybe better exhaust note/sound. This is two 50mm pipes, which is 100mm piping, compared to 70mm piping on aftermarket downpipes. Knight Sports makes a dual down pipe as well, which is dual 60mm piping, or 120mm piping.

No updates for a two or three weeks, as my laptop broke and just dropped $700 on a new dual screen setup and desktop.

Damn brian, this could possibly be the BEST makeover anyone has ever done on this forum. I cant wait to see the end result.

Thats cool you're doing the 5spd swap, i was just gonna ask you about that. I thought you already did it before, i remember you talking about it a couple of years ago.

Bryan,

I have a few more ideas for you.... Markers Racing has a nice Red torque brace (I'll probably as you to find me one too if you like it) Auto Exe has a sick Strut brace front and rear they are bright F ing red Yeah I know you have the feed strut already. I like your steering wheel choice, I want the same thing too just with YELLOW stitching to match my car wish i could find one like that. I like the ver2 bumper it is just so mean looking and i like that you filled in the plate hole. You have alot of the same ideas that I do for mine, I think I am going to try and find these front fenders (it as a attachment) and a burnout rear fender flare. I have ken at shine getting ready to work on making me a special custom set of twill weave feed skirts. You know the wheels i want already ;), a set of Stance coilovers (would love some Ohlins but that is so expensive) As for engine work that will be my after school time.

Miata_mx5 03-12-09 01:56 PM

Depending on what you want to do with the car, the Ohlins may ending being more than worth it.

Thanks Rob! It is definitely coming along, and is costing me alot more money then I orginally planned. I had planned to do the 5 speed swap but just never got around to it. I am hoping to get it finished this summer. My priority is to finish the exterior then starting working on the engine.

I sent you a pm on some of the things mentioned above, but like I said I can get you a set of Ohlins, for less than $1500. I really should stop spending and start saving for law school. You will have to go the custom route to get the yellow stitching, Nardi might make an aftermarket wheel with yellow stitching though. Those are the re-amemiya fenders, msrp $1500 and discontinued, I can get them for you. They are similar to my r-magic fenders.

The car is a street car, I feel like Ohlins (specifically the DFV version) would be over-kill, it is not the price that bothers me. I am still leaning towards a set of Aragosta's, maybe the Knight Sports version. Either way, I can attain a set of Ohlins or Aragosta's for less than $1500 with a limited amount of miles. No need to go over kill with a $3500 setup just because I can afford it, would rather spread the money.

Miata_mx5 03-12-09 06:02 PM

AST Suspension seems like a quality option too.

Can't go wrong with aragostas though.

sevensix 03-12-09 10:48 PM

so with 19's will you be running a larger than stock tire diameter

Stock tire diameter is 24.85" on the 16" stock wheels, on a 255/30/19 it is 25.02", so it is a very minimum increase.

Just brought over some recaro rz seats for a customer, super sweet seats and very comfortable. This makes it a tough decision on wether to do the spirit r's or those gt seats I posted earlier, hmmmm.

lol i know, they are pretty sweet. Pricing on them is $1750 for the rz seats + $1200 for Fedex 3 day shipping from Japan (only available option) and than about $100 for North America shipping. So you can get them for a little under 3 grand and you dont have to wait 3+ months on shipping.
