protect from theft
i got an 88 vert fc and have four 10in L7's in the trunk and an spl 3000watt amp and want to know the best way to protect them from being stolen cause a vert would be easy to break into. are there any security systems that are good for a vert cause there has been alot of theft in my area
Well, probably the first thing is to ask whether or not the system is obvious- if you can't tell there's anything in the car beyond an aftermarket head unit you're less likely to have it broken into. If you've got a lot of stuff in the trunk, you might want to consider disconnecting the cable that allows you to open the trunk from the cabin- that way you have to use the key to get into the trunk.
I'm still looking into security system options. A local shop that does a lot of security & stereo installs said they'd suggest a system with a proximity sensor that could be set up to detect if someone reached into the car if it's parked with the top down and set the alarm off. I was quoted about $400 to have that installed (including solenoids to lock/unlock the doors) on my 'vert.
