Problems with stock '93 base stereo cutting out
Hey everybody -
I'm helping a local FD owner get his car fixed up. One problem he has is the stock stereo (it's a '93 base, with the base model tape deck) cuts out. Most times it doesn't work - sometimes, all of a sudden, it will come on and work.
I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but will this weekend. I'm thinking maybe a bad electrical connection to the stereo, but that sounds unlikely. Or, a bad solder joint or connection in the stereo.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? Anyone tried to fix it?
Thanks!
Dale

In the driver's kick panel there is a fuse marked "audio". On my car the stereo would do the same thing on occasion and I finally found I could kick the fuse box and the radio would come on. In my case it turned out that the terminals which the fuse slips into were loose and had a poor connection. I gently crimped them shut with a small screwdriver and reinserted the fuse. That fixed it for me.
