Hey, you two with the Eclipses :

I was thinking of going with an 8443 (or whatever the higher-end powered unit is called). Eclipse's site & catalog confused me a bit... Do the newer decks play MP3s, or do they actually require the extra voice control module to do so?

And a dumb little question: Do they have separate amp-remote-turn-on and power-antenna-activate wires? In otherwords, will the damn thing extend the antenna even though you're only listening to CDs?

Thx. I'm done hijacking now

I have the 8443 running just the Bose speakers right now, so I'm not really using the deck to its potential at all. The deck does NOT play Mp3s. You need the Eclipse Commander Unit to do that. Honestly, I hope that the deck lives up to all the hype when I connect my amp and components and sub in the next few weeks, because I don't really like the volume control *** on the deck. If it sounds better than Alpine, great. I'll feel like I got my money's worth. Otherwise, the Eclipse interface is not as nice as the Alpine IMO. Hopefully the 8 volt preamps will actually be better than "plain, old" 4 volt preamps.

I believe there are separate turn-ons for the antenna and the amps. I don't think my antenna goes up unless I have the radio on.
