How loud does that kind of sound setup get in the "cockpit"? I'd imagine that you can't hear very much.

Bojangles, I am thinking about trading my unit in for that one. How do you like it? Do you have the NAV option? I am going to buy them together.

By the way, you should have it glassed in, so it would look more factory, like mine.

nice I like that!

Yeah I love mine, I am getting the nav and tv after I get a couple other things done to the car. It is nice though that you can add them so easily.

This is what i would like to do exactly, even keep the Bose speakers. How did it turn out using the factory Bose with that unit, sound wise? I dont want all the subs and such and would like to stay factory in that department.

Actually sounds really good. I have heard a lot of people complain about the accoustics of the FD, I must just not be as picky. I don't think the center speaker is being used anymore (could be wrong), and the bose wave sub thing, sounds just right to me.

The guy who installed it said that the bose speakers sounded really good with the deck, as appoased to how the bose speakers can react to other decks.

Initially, I was running my Eclipse Head Unit with the stock Bose speakers, and it does sound quite good. The Bose speakers are nice and punchy, and the system sounded nice with the car off. Unfortunately my exhaust (which really isn't THAT loud) really covered up the sound a lot, so I went with something for more volume.

I would not recommend replacing the Bose speakers with aftermarket speakers to be powered on Head Unit power alone unless your Bose speakers are blown. There are a few speakers out there that would sound good with head unit power (17-20W RMS), but none of them can be found at Circuit City, Sound Advice, Best Buy, etc. Of course, good is entirely relative, but if you want any kind of bass response from your Polk, Infinity, Pioneer, etc. speakers, you will need them amplified.

Cool, i looked at that exact unit for my FD. Crutchfield said it wouldn't fit my car but that's b/s . . . it looks awesome. Did you install it or did a shop? Where did they find that surrounding trim?

Thanks!

The trim actually came with the unit. I bought it off of ebay (new) and saved about $700. I had bestbuy install it for me to the tune of about $180. The install guy said it was a pain because of all of the bose wiring, but they always bitch, don't they?

Fits perfect, is much better looking in person, and doesn't cover up the climate control!!!

i got 2 infinity 12s, 550amps @ 2ohms, in a custom box. The box fits like a glove. i have turned it the other way and reinstalled the divider since i took these pics. i also did a better job of hiding the wires. either way it is more sound than an FD needs.

So, I went to Best Buy last year, to see what they had tyo say about installing a new head unit in my FD and the guy asks my car and year and looks somethin up on their database and tells me that they cant install a new head unit without taking out all the bose speakers. I couldnt believe it. So I wanted something cheap like a $100 head unit cuz my stock unit has gone out twice now (1st time guys at Mazcare gave me one for free that had lying around, and 2nd time I had to buy another used one). But dude was tryin to tell me that I had to switch out not only the head unit but all the speakers as well, so it would've been like $600, I was like no way. Actually, for the longest time I was using one of those portable Cd players with the adaptor, and when I put that beast on the highest bass, I could swear I got almost twice as much bass out of those bose speakers. It was like my mini amp. Anyways, so youguys have had no problems just switchin out head unit and keepin the stock speakers??

Wow, that looks great. I don't know **** about audio, can you fill me in about that headunit? Also, what is the model and price for that unit?

I'm impressed on the systems you guys have on your FD. My system is completly stock with a few blown speakers. I'm pretty much done with increasing the hp and now it's time to upgrade my audio system.
