A friend of mine just turned me on to this forum . . . awesome. Here's the rims on my car.

Enkei NTO3+M, frt 9.5 +27, rr 10.5 +30 X 18. Tires: Advan A048, frt 265/35, rr 285/30. Medium hard compound (treadwear 60). A little fender rolling, but maybe the maximum with stock fenders. I should have gone for 255's in the front since the rears stretched nicely. Car needs a paint job though.

wow, finally someone with decent fitting wheels! You wouldnt believe how many people would tell you 9.5+27 wont fit in the front, or even 10.5+30 in rear, lol. Car looks great. you running any extra camber to fit those sizes or really just a simple roll job is all that was needed?

Thanks, man. I wouldn't go any bigger than that, unless you're planning on a wide body kit.

Damn REH, I love that look. They're right, those offsets just work. I got some RPF1s coming that I was hoping would look like that but I'm thinking they won't now cause the rears are 10 +38 and the fronts are 9.5 +45, will it look almost the same?

Damn it's beautiful, you should be proud, haha.

Thanks Speed. I originally wanted a half inch difference front and rear like yours (because the stock configuration is even). After tracking the car (superlapseries.com) I found out that it has a tendency to be loose (oversteer). Plus, the guy that I ordered them from gave me a great deal on them ($250 ea.), but limited to certain sizes. I just told him to go out and get the largest wheels he could get, plus with my experience with offsets with the 17" 5Zigens I had on before. I was most amazed (and lucky) to come this close to perfect (in my own opinion).

DriftDream, sorry I didn't answer your question earlier (I looked and noticed). No, I didn't have to add more camber to make them fit, but the front fenders were harder to roll than the rears because the front fenders flexed so much.

Yeah Rishie explained to me the benefits of NOT staggering if I'm going to track the car (which I probably won't cause I can't fit in the damn thing with a helmet on, haha), but that's not so much the reason I only got .5 inch difference. He told me those sizes and offsets would fit but it would be close, and I'd probably have to roll the fenders.

If you don't like the look you could always use spacers. People are doing amazing things with spacers now-a-days, especially the cars with the wide body kits. I had to use spacers in the fronts with my old set of wheels just so that it didn't look like a drag car.

Yeah that's crossed my mind, but unless I'm desperate and absolutely have to use them, I'd rather not. I figure it's just one more thing to go wrong, haha.

The spacers I'm talking about have lug bolts on them ($50 ea.). It's like having a longer center section of rim . . . very solid. Not the floating spacers that require longer studs. The Japan guys use them all the time (and our Hawaii drifters). I do have to admit, dealing with these Japan tuners fellows, I believe in some respect that they're ahead of us as far as tuning street cars. Look at their cars . . . so balanced looking and functional. How many FD owners change their wheel bearings? I'm sure a lot of FD owners that run bigger wheels don't have the perfect offset. My opinion is offset is relatively insignificant. Our formula cars run ridiculious negative scrub radius. The tire's pivoting point is almost at the inner sidewall. Anyway, just my input . . . I'm still new here, I have to remember.

I think that most people are saying that without EXTENSIVE suspension mods and major fender rolling, those wheel sizes will definately not fit. You can't throw those wheels on with your typical spring and shock combo that's for sure!

You know what Apex, I didn't think about that. Thanks.

The first mod on my car WAS the coilovers. I didn't plan it that way though. Cost dictated it. The car would have been surely down for months if my first set of wheels (5Zigens) didn't fit with the stock suspension.

Well, like Apex was saying, the wheels have to work with the whole package otherwise it wouldn't fit. Thanks for the comp. If FD's are rare, we must be too. I like this place . . .

If I don't like the offset I'll look into those spacers you're talking about then. Do you have a website link for those?

I agree with you, it seems the Japanese tuners build their cars more functional than some of us do. I was just thinking yesterday about changing my wheel bearings, haha, wondering if I needed to do that yet. I'm sure I do since it has 130k already.

I wish I could tell you off hand where to get those spacers. I just see them all the time on our drifter's cars. They tell me they go for $50 a piece (X4). I thought that was pretty expensive when some wheels are in the $175~200 range. If you google search I'm sure you'll come up with something, but in the meantime I'll talk to some of our drivers to get a better feel.

The Japan guys pay premium for parts! They don't believe in budget ebay type of stuff. It's name brand all the way. I'm a budget racer . . . whatever works and keeps working, "works" for me. The Japan guys have been doing it longer . . . we'll catch up. And, I'm not talking about the U.S. elite . . . I'm talking about the rest of us.

i'm really envious b/c i ordered 17x9 rpf1s in well- rather conservative fitment so looking at your setup really makes me hit my head. everyday i look at the fitment of my wheels and think "geez.. i really coulda gotten it a bit lower (offset)".. hehe.

cheers

I don't know "KICS", but the 15mm and up with it's own bolts sounds right. Actually my mechanic will be back from his mainland trip here shortly. He's a drifter and has giant spacers on his 240. I'll get some more details from him when he gets back.

Yeah, I'm in no-way rotary-elite but so far the parts I've been getting have mostly been name brand. I've had some bad luck with car parts in the past so I'm taking no chances with Ebay stuff. I'll google some spacers so I'll know for later. Thanks for checking on it for me though.

Omochi- sometimes I wish I had ordered something a little more conservative too so I'll know for sure that I won't rub, cause with my luck I will, but I just couldn't help getting as wide as possible, or so I thought til I saw REH's car, haha.
