Pics of Alpine CDA-9835 for anyone interested

I had hard time finding good pics (esp night pics) of the Alpine CDA-9835 head unit. After getting mine installed yesterday here's some day/night pics of the unit, with the ability to change the backlit color of the main buttons (e.g. 1-6 radio buttons) between green and amber, and the ability to change the four main buttons any of 516 colors you can match the stock amber pretty well. I had the double DIN touring Bose system, and replaced the bottom empty DIN with the OEM din pocket w/ flip that I ordered through Malloy.

Here's a few different pics, in the darkest pic the four main buttons appear brighter than they really are just because of the long exposure time and how big the buttons are. I'm also pleased with the interface and actually using the unit, although I havn't gotten into all of the advanced features yet.

Yes this is iPod compatible if you get the iPod control module thing talked about here: http://www.alpine-usa.com/products/l...h_kca-420i.htm

It's not available for sale yet, but is supposed to be by late september so I would imagine any day now. That is one of the reasons that I got this head unit.

It was $550 including installation at Car Toys (a car stereo place here in the NW) plus the cost of an OEM-2 to interface with the Bose Speakers (I left all of the stock speakers/rear 'wave tube' intact).

Overall over the last couple days I've been very happy with it - it was just about one of the only head units I saw while looking that had any sort of a 'stock' look to it, with colors and the mostly black face. A lot of units have a silver face or some really bright blue colored display. The display on this is just black+white but that is one thing I like about it as it doesn't add any extra color that isn't the stock amber.

I'm more interested in the pocket below your headunit.
Where can I get one?

Call up Ray in the parts department at Malloy Mazda (888-533-3400). It's technically called a 'Stereo Ornament', part #: FD01-66-9M0D, cost me $70 shipped. I believe it's the OEM pocket for the R1/R2 which only had a single DIN stereo, I had a touring edition with the double DIN that was removed for the above head unit.
