pic request for aftermarket mirrors!
I have noticed that almost all current vehicles have their side mirrors affixed to the window end (where our sail panel is located) as opposed to the actual body as is the case for the FD. I would love to see some pics of aftermarket mirrors attached where the sail panel is instead of the body. Also a couple of ?'s
1) Does anyone make a modified sail panel to attach aftermarket mirrors to.
2) Does moving the mirror affect aerodynamics
3) How did you guys with these mirrors fill in the door holes?
Cheers,
Frank

Ganador Mirrors. I absolutely love them, only problem is they are designed for RHD cars which makes my left side mirror useless, cant see out of it at all - need to find a solution to this. The aerodynamics would be marginally effected, not enough to notice any difference. Two bolts go into the original spot and then you double side tape the base to the door sail/triangle on the window, cant see the tape it looks clean. Good luck frank.

mirror ?'s
Hiya PureRX7 thanks for the input! I soo love that run racing headlight setup of yours wish it were still available. Thanks for the info on the Ganador...I'm not sure the fact they are set up for RHD makes the left side unuseable but I definitely trust you. I'm also a little confused as to the "2 bolt" thing. Do those go in the original holes from the OEM mirrors. If you have a close up this set up put it up! thanks for the kind words!
Cheers,
Frank

i have the re-a ad pro (fender mirrors) they are sweet didnt get pics when i set it up but it will be up when my fenders are painted. not a lot of people have them out here they are pretty awesome.
as for filling the holes i used fiberglass matting on the inside and filler and you would never know they were ever t there. welding them in might be better but i couldnt get a hold of a welder but was pleasantly surprised how well mine came out. did the same to shave the antenna

I would love to see pics of the your fd with the z8 mirrors.
I dont think they would flow that well with the lines, look a little bulky, especially for $1000+. They dont look that much different then whats on their now. Or maybe its the fact i was never a big fan of the z8.

Good stuff guys...
Great pics and suggestions everyone. I like the idea of RX72NR craftsquares mirrors as they directly attach/bolt (as opposed to sticky tape) to the area of the sail panel. My main objective is to not have the mirrors attached to the body/doorskin.
Gordon, thanks for your input regarding the feasibility that so many other cars have available mirrors that might possibly fit. I'm going to take those measurements as well and see what I come up with.
Meanwhile keep the pics coming. Looking for something unusual yet subtle!

RE Am Type II
These are my RE type II mirrors.
They are bolt on, sit over the triangles, the wire harness from them can be integrated with the stock connector and they cover the existing holes from the stock setup. But yes they are for RHD. Leaving the DS with a smaller mirror/passenger larger.
I think they look real smooth and flow nice with the car.
They're hard to find as you probably have to get them second hand. There really durable being made of strong quality fiberglass.
I think your best bet for all your points mentioned are the ganador, next being the craftsquare, but if you like the look you can try and get a hold of these type II's from some member looking to part with them.
Good luck with your decision.
