When I decide to do mine, I wanted to give the panel a factory look, and leather can give that look. For suede, that would definitely be a major custome look.
Haha, hippie. Actually I'm almost 28, I missed the hippie days by a few years, haha. I've seen suede in some WRXs and in an FD before too and I think it looks really nice. I have a few blemishes on the interior and I want something different, something not many people do. I've thought of going with carbon fiber but I think the look is kinda played already and I want something a little nicer. I would think rain or sweat (due to "hell's own furnace-the transmission tunnel, haha) would be my biggest problem with suede. I can deal with the dirt thing, I'll keep a lint roller if I have to. I'll see if I can find those pics of the FD with black suede.

EDIT: OK, I found the pics...

ultrasuede is supposedly the material that you want. It's breathable and easily cleanable. It's also uber expensive. There use to be a guy on the forum ronkmiller that did custom work.

here is his old thread:

Yeah, I saved those pics, haha. I PMed him when I first saw the thread but he never got back to me. I want to do the same kinda thing but not with white, all black possibly with blue thread used to accent (instead of white like in the pics I posted a few posts back). But I want to cover almost everything, haha.

I understand about the CF thing being not a new idea, but have you guys seen work like Mark Koch's inside? It looks absolutely amazing. The overlays and sticker Torasport kits look terrible. You have to get top notch quality and I guarantee it looks awesome. Mine will be done next week, right along with Ac relocation and three 52mm gauges were the ac controls were. It is coming along amazing. I will post pics soon enough.

I'm not saying it doesn't look good when done right, I'm just saying that's not the direction I want to go at this point. The red Nitrous Express FD looks really good inside. I do want that center console though, with the gauges above the stereo and HVAC controls relocated. Where can I get that? I'd love to see those pics when yours is done.

I am doing it right now as we speak. I will post pics when its done. It is not as hard as people think, if you can use bondo and fiberglass. It is a pretty sweet custom look. I needed heads up gauge display more than I needed an ashtray. I am also doing my full interior in Carbon Fiber 2 twill weave and it looks awesome and I have not even cleared anything yet. You will all see what I can do soon. I am very proud of it and it looks amazing.

mine looks 100 thousand times better than that. The weave is all messed up and it looked like the finish got hazed. Mine is clear and UV protected, weave is straight and all matches. No imperfections, you will see.

Jspec's car is awesome. I have the same set-up except I am doing 3 Defi D 52mm gauges in the AC panel instead of 2 60mm BF. It should look awesome. I am mezmerized by how he got the PFC commander in there like that. I understand how its done but he must have had the cable between the screen and buttons made longer. I love that. Mine is very similar but CF all the way throughout.

If you're talking about the red one, it's the Nitrous Express FD. If you're talking about the pics on my previous post with the black suede, I'm not sure, it was on either cars.com or autotrader.com so it's hard telling who's car it was. The pics were probably stolen cause I think they were only asking about $7,000 for it IIRC. OK I GOTTA see those pics when you're done now with all the hype.

don't worry they are coming. I am trying new techniques to ensure quality. I am very picky about how these turn out. I will give you a teaser. The pieces that are pictured are not even done, I have not smoothed the surface or cleared the pieces. It will look like the pic of the end of the map pocket. Sorry I don't have better pics, I will as soon as I complete these, which is next week. I have just been so busy and waiting for materials.

because the surface has not been wet sanded smooth and cleared yet is why they look chunky on the surface. That all goes away in the next set in the process. Then when I lay the clear it just blings. I use an automotive UV clear coat, its thick and builds good. The map pocket piece is cleared but not buffed and polished and it looks like that. You all can see whatI have done with the shifter panel and relocating the AC controls. I am still fabbing up the AC gauge stereo panel as week speak. I will post when its done.

Oh so you fabbed the center console HVAC controls yourself? Are you up for doing another one? Haha. How do you do that anyway, do you have to fill in the holes that are already there and cut new ones or do you start off with a solid panel and mold it to the shape and all that?

Damn, I just realized we hijacked the hell outta this thread, sorry Yellow Man, haha.

speedjunkie, PM me. Sorry Yellowman, back to his thread. The leather he does is an extremely rare interior upgrade and it looks very nice. I can imagine how classy and a luxury of a feel it gives to the car. I wish I could check it out in person. Great job.

Not a problem. Very interesting but I've seen this kind of mod before. Like you said, I am going for the 'dominatrix' look.

It was worth all the sweat and blood my friend. It feels like a new car. I did it on the eve of turkey day till 5:30am the next morning. The wife and kids were visiting the relatives eating the food for me. Instead I was in the "stable full of dominatrixes" with the whips, chains, hand cuffs and all. PS...Don't tell my wife.
