Pearl/Opaque Paint
Im wanting to respray my FD in a pearl colour. The base is black and i wanted a red pearl/opaque over it to shine through. Heres a pic of what im more or less after (Supra below) but i have no idea of how to do it or how much it costs. I spoke to a few different people and so far they all say different things! The Pearl powder is around £50 so $100 and the dye is around the same aswell. Prep work there doesnt seem to be much really just scotch pad the car down thats it?
This is what iv been told so far...
1. Scotch the car down. Mix the pearl powder into the laquer spray 2 coats with the pearl then 2 overcoats with just laquer. (Manufactureres instructions)
2. Scotch the car down. Do the same as above but in between pearl coats sand it down because the powder leaves a grainy finish. (Bodyshop instructions)
3. Scotch the car down. Mix a red dye into the laquer and spray 3 coats and 1 coat plain. (Another paint manufacturer instructions)
I want a solid pearl effect without any flakes, i dont mind the mettalic look but what i expressly dont want it the glittery effect as shown below.
Can anybody guide me in the right direction...

If you have never done this before, I'd suggest this is not the type of thing to practice the pearling process on. You'll make a train wreck of your car.
