Painting plastic piece surrounding headlights

I've noticed that the black plastic piece surrounding the headlights (you can see them when the headlight is up) is pretty ugly. Has anybody painted them? Mine has some ugly, long wide and deep scratches on the plastic piece. What should I use to fill up the scratches? What can I paint the plastic with?

I use tire dressing to keep them black & shiny. How did yours get scratched so bad?

I bought the car like that. Dunno what could cause damage like that. The last owner was probably extremely frustrated when trying to change bulbs.

i painted mine. i sanded it down a little and then used some high temp black paint i had left over from my calipers. i used a clear coat also but i like how it looks without the clearcoat better.. the clearcoat makes it look shiney

Interesting, I guess the paint stayed on pretty well? I would think it'll flake off if something hits it. But then again, it's not too often that you would get a rock hitting your light bezel. Got any pics of the painted?

I used the same thing to repaint my interior. Though you will still need clearcoat to stop it from fading, its still a real time saver.
