painting front lip...

When I bought my car it had a painted R1 front lip but the paint was cracking all over there place because the lip is insn't rigid enough. I now have the 99 spec lip on the car and it's less flexible than the R1 lip so I was thinking of painting it, but is there anything special that should be added to auto body paint to help it flex instead of crack?

Add flex additive ...

Take the lip to your favorite body shop and tell them you want the lip painted but you want them to add a special treatment called flex additive. Its the same stuff body shops will apply to bumpers before painting them so that the paint won't crack as easily when finished. Most body shops that like to do things the correct way will be able to apply that flex additive. Thats how my R1 lip is painted, but the lip will still be prone to chips from larger pebbles or rocks. Hope that helps....Tony

thanks for the suggestion... do you have any idea what the flex agent is called specifically? i want to be specific as possible with the body shop because the last time i had a painted r1 lip, it cracked very easily (probably because they didnt' use any sort of flex agent, heh).
