Painting an FD - White or Black?
Hi folks, I currently have a vintage red FD and I hate it (the color not the car). I'm looking into a full color change, but I am completely split 50/50 on black or white. So I'm just curious to see what you all think and why.
So what looks better on an FD, black or white? Thanks!

Black will always look evil and sinister on the fd.
Down side to black? its a pain in the *** to keep clean. As soon as you wash it and drive off your driveway, its dirty again.
White on an fd is very slick.
Downside? I havent seen too many white fd's around to be honest. But judging from other cars, it won't have that "pop" as a black car would.
If it was me, I'd go with white..
I told myself I'd never own another black car in my life. It hides all the curves on the fd and when washed incorrectly have fun with swirl marks..
But thats just my opinion

Yeah the white does show off the subtle lines and makes the car look wider. I have owned a black car before and they look awesome for the first 10 minutes after a wash and wax, especially at night, and then pollen/swirls/smudge/dirt/scratches/birdpoo quickly set in. But oh what a glorious ~10 minutes it is...

If white, i was probably going to go with the Mazda "pure white" from later year FD's, or Lexus "starfire white pearl". But...dang you all make good points for either color. Hard choices...

After owning a black car, i would never go black again (lol).
Car only looks good waxed and in the shade.
I have waxed my car and it looked immaculate, the next day you could see the little dust particles already forming. It didnt look good unless you're always keeping the car clean. At night it looks good though.
I would go with white. Or why not keep it VR? A freshly painted VR looks awesome.

lol yup, it is true.
Everywhere i go, people stop and stare and im going slow. I guess its because i drive a rare car but a red sports car ALWAYS stands out.
I mean come on, red is the original sports car color. Look at ferrari. lol
Even if im parked in a lot, you cant miss my car. Just a low red car sitting there.
Red complements the car itself and itself even more when you are parked next to other cars. lol

Keep it red hmm... Man some of you are not helping, haha. Yeah red is a classic color and it's great, but I just can't rock a red car unless it WAS a Ferrari. Plus is seems to be like the most popular FD color ever.
Satin black is very interesting, but if I were to go black, it's because I like that deep reflective mirror quality.

I don't know why you guys are saying black HIDES body lines. Black shows everything, thats why people hate it.
A white car could have 7 ripples in the bodywork down the side and you wouldn't see it. On a black FD, it would jump out like a sore thumb.
I voted black though because its just badass.

I know exactly what you mean. I have a red FD and I think it's just too damn common of a color for an FD, it does look nice...but what you said, unless it's a Ferrari I wouldn't rock it. But, have you seen a satin black Ferrari? It really is
