painting car by yourself

hi, well ive been thinking in painting my car and i was wondering why not do it myself, this is not my dd so it's not a problem if it takes a little long. i was wondering if anyone here has paint their cars by themselves and what where there experiences in doing it, this is going to be my first time painting a car, i have a friend that has swown me a few things about painting a car, ive seen some videos and i have a 2 hour video that shows how to paint you car from old crappy faded paint to a awsome paint job. i figured why not do it myself so you can learn and paint some other cars and earn some $$$ lol. ive always had this on my mind but never try it because of fear of ruining the car but i decided that im going to do it.

thanks

I'm learning to paint too. Help my buddies dad do a car and we'll do my car in the spring. Its tough but with a good teacher it goes way easier. Best thing I can recommend is practice on junkers. Oh, and prep is as important if not more so, than the paint!

that's true, prep is more important than painting, if the prep is poorly done you can't expect to get a miracle from the paint only.

Prep is everything. I had to repaint my car (for a second time, still working on it) because of crappy prep the first time around.
