Paint matching accuracy....

I have a factory mazda black 93 fd. Other than the bumper (1 1" paint bubble) and hood (minute rock chips ~80k on car), the car has extremely well maintained paint. Other than those two locations, the rest of the car needs no paint at all, and really has a great shine.

My question is this, how accurate could a body shop match the paint and paint my bumper and hood, assuming that I went with aftermarket styling. There has been a lot of great deals in the classifieds on body kits these days, and I'd like to pick up some pieces to replace my rough spots. My only concern is having a miscolored car, as I am not up to knowledge on body shop ability.

Thanks in advance.

I have had mine (Brilliant Black) retouched and no one can see the difference. I will also be in for some chip removal soon I hope.

The only difference is how pro is who will do you the job.

Well, this all depends on how picky you are and how critical of an eye you have. Personally, I've NEVER seen an exact color match with respray. I've seen some jobs where the new panels or bodywork is blended in with the old and comes very close, but in certain lighting or angles, you can see the difference. White and black are the two colors that are the easiest to match.

You could get an almost perfect match but you will have to pay very close attention to be able to tell the difference.Like speedking said white and black are the easiest colors to match so you wont really see the difference, and like he also stated that shop blend the other panels to make the paint look the same.I have some aftermarket parts and i also have a body shop if your interested.

Seeing how its a black car I wouldnt worry about it. You most likly will have to look extreamly hard to see a difference. And to 99% of the people out there they wont see a difference.
