ive painted 3 cars myself, I used my 2 car garage and set it up with fans to kinda make a spray booth. In the end I wish i had spent the extra $$ on a gravity feed gun and better compressor for more constant flow. paint cost was anywhere from 200-400 depending on whether i used enamel or base-clear. (painting yellow is a ******* bitch)
The prep work took almost a year, Taping off areas takes at least a day (unless you dont care about overspray) and in the end it still looks like somone who didnt know what they were doing.
Dont get me wrong, no one ever laughed at the job i did, It was decent. but nothing can make up for the expirence professional painters have.
last but not least, their is no cure for rust. It needs to be COMPLETELY removed. I thought i could get away with a layer of POR15 and some bondo/primer, rusted right through in 3 years as you can see from where i reprimered it in the quarter in this pic.

$800 without door jams and engine bay. I payed just under $2,000 for my Ferrari red and the install of my aftermarket hood, lights, mirrors, 5pc. body kit, shaved parts, and a few door dings. For pics, check my home page.
