Paint Job
Hey guys, Would any of you happen to know how much a good paint job would cost? This paint job would be for the entire car including door jams...all except the engine bay. I want all dents removed and the color of my car is vintage red. I am also adding a 99 spec front some side skirts and a 99 spec wing...dont know if that would be extra$$$. I also live in California..if that makes a difference. Thanks for the help fellas.

Prices will vary depending on the shop, so you are going to have to put in the leg work and talk to your local shops. Most of the places I talked to wouldn't give me an estimate without seeing the car.

in our area i always hear around 5k for a nice paint job. i stopped by this place call the works auto body in santa clara and they i think they told me around 7k !!! you can definitely find cheaper places, but most likely you get what you pay for...so it really depends on how nice of a paint job you want. my advice is to find some people who've repainted their cars and see if the quality is up to your standards...i've been meaning to do this but been kinda lazy...

I have a body shop. To get a real good paint job, you need to spend 6000+. If not, make sure you get everything in writing. My bottom line is, if you don't like it, we'll do it until you do. Here's mine that I converted form black to silver.

nice ride r71, paint looks good too..I would say spending 6 grand on a paint job is a waste...but a satisfying waste nonetheless.. I want a silver rx7 as well, but SHould I just sell my red one and save a couple more grand and buy a silver one with low miles or what?

Don't get me wrong, I like the silver look, just not in my car... Kind of like some of the things they do to show cars, looks great but you wouldn't necessarily want it in your own car.

Also, some people have had their parts painted by body shops which is also not a bad idea if you can't get decent paint and clear coats in your area. The worse thing is repainting all the panels with bad paints and then it starts showing wear in 2 months....

CA seems to have high prices . I just got quoted $2000 for complete color change(From MB to Sapphire Blue Mica) including all, door jams hatch area, engine bay. Even said they are going to take the doors aparts to paint. He said when there done I will not be able to tell it has undergone a color change. I've seen his work too, and it looks great. Said it takes 2 weeks, and that price might have been just for Labor .
