Paint

This question is not nessesaly rx7 related or limited, but i do have one and this is a good site for other peoples inputs. I am thinking about a repaint, nothing fancy, just body work and a new coat to shine it up a bit. I want to know if anywone has ever gone though maaco for paint and if its any good. I some people say that maacos is crap and not to do it, and some say its fine. whats your input, or does anyone have anyother suggestions, obviously it would ahve to be a chain company cuz uless you lived in appleton WI, you wouldnt have an suggestoins for me. Thanks

i wasnt impressed. you can have them do it but be sure to tell them EVERYTHING you want done, i told em door jams and all, they didnt doo the sunroof opening or gas tank opening. they tried to buff it and screwed up the back of my drivers side 1/4 panel, and they did the body work but didnt remove the rust or oxydation and its trying to bubble up on me. theres spots that look like cracks on my wing that they said will buff out, they wont. if there are any issues with the paint do not take it, have them repaint it. they dint put my scoop in properly, and the paint started to chip, but thats prolly because i deove it when it was new.
and for the love of god do not buff wax or wipe off the car for at least 1 1/2 months, if its dirty spary it down, dont dry wipe it with a towel. you will scratch it

Umm wow...that sounds like a resounding no. I can't say that I would use them. If you really care about the car you're better off saving up to do it right instead of goin cheap to use maaco.

this is true with any paint - except the month and a half thing - thats only for acrylic alkalid paints - which really should not be used to paint an entire car to begin with...*cough* Maaco bastards *cough*

The only way Maaco would be considered "good" is if you bought a brand new car and wanted to change the colour....meaning NEVER have them do body work....and don't expect that the 299 job is base clear - LOL....

Basically - you get what you pay for, and nowhere is this more prevalent then with body work and paint....

dont go to maaco...save yourself money buy bondo, close your eyes throw it at the car in the places it needs...then spray paint your car. infact, I'll do it for half the price of maaco...and it will look just as good.

with maaco you get less than what you pay for. Ive know too many people who thought maaco was a decent idea.

only way you can use macco is to do the body work yourself. strip and sand, fix all the rust. then let them paint over.

its all in the prep. I dont know how many times ive said it or will continue to say it. IF you dont prep the car correctly it will look like a pile of ****.
