Opinions on MAACO Paint
I'm looking to paint my RX-7 this summer. Have any of you guys had any experience with MAACO? I'm talking about the ambassador paint job, you know, the one that's $250-$300 (I'm cheap). If you guys know anything about this, like how long will it last? how many coats? clear coat? etc... please pm me or post here. Thanks.

I just purchased a car from someone who had a MAACO paint job performed last April (2003). They painted over the Rx-7 emblems, the paint was a single stage silver, IT HAS NO GLOSS!
You are better off saving your money and going to a real paint shop and getting it done

for $300 bucks you are going really get a crappy job. You can get a decent paint job at maaco if you get the best job they offer (will cost $2500 or so including body work).
You will still need to pay another body shop $300 to color sand and polish it, to make it gloss.

My car was painted by Maaco and it looks great, it is very shiny and there aree not really any kind of inperfections. Maaco is not the greatest but they do ok work sometimes, well at least my car cause i have known the guy who painted for so many years now he knew i would kick his *** if he fucked my paint up.

my friend has a 80s 300zx that had a bad paint problem when he got it. he had the car painted there about 2 years ago for around $500 and it still looks good. for the money its a good job, no real overspray problems. i have heard that if you prep the car yourself, take off as many parts as you can, it comes out good. it all depends on what you wanna do with the car.

I had my Del sol painted about 2 years ago for around 2 bills. What condition is it in now you ask? It's more faded than any busted up old 60's Mustang in any ole' junkyard. No clearcoat detectable anywhere. It's looks kinda pink with all the fade. Pink+Del Sol = GAY (I know)

Hmmm...perhaps MAACO isn't the way to go. I guess I'll have to shell out the dough to get a decent paint job. Thanks for all the input. If anyone knows of a place in the Bay Area that will do a DECENT paint job for under $1000, lemme know. Thanks.
