One 10", or two 8"s?
which setup would provide deeper, more powerfull bass, and generally be a "better" setup? one 10" sub, or two 8" subs? lets say both setups utilize fairly top-of-the-line amps, head units, etc.

I use to have 4 8"s in an isoberic box and people constantly thought I had 15s. If the 8"s are powerful enough and are installed in a professionaly built box, they will sound better than a 10"

Many factors apply but 2 8-inch drivers have over 20% greater piston area than a single 10-inch. Creating low frequencies is all about moving air. Also, smaller drivers will typically have less overhang and will react more quickly to signal changes -- of course box design plays a larger role....
I say go with 2 8" in a sealed or iso-baric box.
