Painful and/or Expensive

I've been trying to figure this out myself. I've got the stock wing and the convertible. The antenna holes match up.
So what it looks like is that you have to make two cuts in the spoiler, one on each side where the trunk matches up to the quarter panels, so that you can raise the trunk lid with the center part of the spoiler located on it. The sides of the spoiler would remain in place on the quarter panels.
Now you have to drill 3 holes per side to accommodate the mounting points of the spoiler. Two more on the trunk lid for the mounting points of the spoiler that runs across the car. If you cut and mess up, you've killed one perfectly good spoiler. Also, drilling holes in my bodywork has never been high on my "fun to do" list. Further, if your spoiler needs to be painted, you've invested that money in it if you screw up. Or you cut the spoiler and then paint it which would seem to be the conservative way to go about the process.

Thanks for the info.....gee...isn't there a simpler way....

Have you seen a pic of a white vert with the wing. I can not seem to find it anylonger.....

Someone out there has to know!!!!!!!!!

How about this for a possiblity.......for the side of the wing......some how mold in brackets that attach to the trunk lid. So, the side of the quater panel are not screwed in. Everything is mounted onto the truck lid.....

Let me know what you think.

No picture of white vert seen.
To mold something to the side, you would have to somehow lift the sides to get the mold up off the !/4 panel and then tie it in to the trunk, maybe triangularly. Then you would have flopping in the wind of the piece on the panel. I think it wouldn't look right, but I'm more of a purist anyway.
Have you taken a look at the Kaminari wing? I'm starting to think I'll sell the stock wing and get the Kaminari. Its not original, but looks sharp.

I have seen the wing on a vert....it is too large. It looks out of place. Sorry....my opinion. If I could only find that pic on the net, you would probably change your mind. The OEM wing on the vert looks total trick and smooth. I have looked at all the wings that are available for the vert.....nothing looks as good as the OEM.

Second thought......back in '86-'87, Mazda had a little wing that they used to sell. It sits on the corner end of the back.....I wonder how those will look....hum....

Anyway, I am trying to source out a used aftermarket t2 wing that was made of fiberglass. I have a freind that could possibly do the modification. He had done fiberglass repairs for me in the past....maybe he can work this one.

Early small wing

I've seen that small wing at a junkyard. It was trashed, but it has 4 or 5 screws that bolt into the trunk and 1/4 panels. You could possible delete the 2 outside screws that fit into the 1/4 panels and just have it attached in the center by the trunk.
(You realize any of these modifications leave holes in the body work?) That would work nicely I think without any flopping or minor on the edge.
I didn't realize the Kaminari wing was too big. Its expensive too, plus paint. The regular TII spoiler and 89+ spoiler, I think they were the same is the way to go, but cutting into it to make it 3 pieces all told, is still traumatic.

That is very true....I guess we are stuck guessing on how to make OUR cars look the part.

Have you email anyone @ fc3s.org? I will. I know that one of them has a vert....I will try him. I will let you know.
