OEM CD Player - How to repair
I have searched and came across a place that USED to repair the head units and the CD players but I guess Bose no longer is providing replacement parts therefore, this company is no longer working on these palyers.
My CD player spits out the CD. This appears to be a common issue after searching prev. threads.
Does anyone here know of another company that could repair my unit or is there anyone out that know how to repair this problem? Somewhere out there I read that adding grease to the bearing/shaft will work but this is a temp. fix (if that).
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Jay

I think crxturboh22 was referring to buy an aftermarket one. If your looking to keep a OEM stock look, an option that some people has done is put in the double din radio/cd player off of a Miata or Millenia and put that into your FD. If your FD was equipped w/ the Bose system, then obviously you'll need to get a head unit that has the Bose outputs. Do a search for "double din radio"

We have the same problem with MX5's and we manage to repair about 50% of them by taking the top casing off, its usually secured by 2 screws and clips, then clean the lense with some sort of spirits on a cotton bud.

Call me gramps!
I used http://www.carstereohelp.com/ when I had to repair my Bose amp/speakers. They were great -- no problems so far with the repairs (3years later).

And while we're on topic, I use a local shop to me that's been repairing factory headunits for over 20 years...they typically charge between $125 - $225 for a full refurbish (they take it ALL apart, and replace ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they think requires replacing, clean it, lube it, seal it up again, including removal and reinstall, w/ a 6 month or 1 year warranty. Not bad eh?
