they are made out of a soft plastic.. I was a little worried about the color of the lights too....Now It looks awesome.....
Its a tricky mod to do...if you screw it up them you will never have a working tack or other type of guage so be carefull....
I didnt even use the tool...Used a knife
Potatobbq has some nice pics

actually, that is because i want to do mine, i don't think it is that hard. 150$ for 5 plastic faces, i believe it is a little expensive. They sell them for 30$ for honduh and it is the same thing.

It all depends on the quality. I've seen some that have "Hotspots", or the lines don't match up like they should, or they dont fit right, ect, ect. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. The extra $100 is worth it too me to have a nice quality gauge face that look great and fits great. Rather than cheaping out and finding some for $30 and having them look like *** and not fit properly and then have to plunk down another $150 6 months down the road just to get the ones you should have to begin with.
Just my $.02

I'm in the "learning process" of doing my own gauges. I've scanned them into photoshop and I'm trying different color number and background combinations. It's kinda neat and beats the hell out of paying over $100 for them. These would be really easy to reproduce, all it is is a white painted gauge face with paper glued to it. The paper and the numbers can be any color, so the combinations are infinite. The stock bulbs are used, no need to upgrade.
I found my extra gauge faces at a junkyard for $4. $1 for each face. The car was absolutely destroyed and the gauge cluster was broken, but the faces were fine and he was just happy to get some money out of it.
