newbie used black/red as ground wire
okay guys,
i just bought an 88 convertible, and the factory pioneer headunit/audio system was about halfway shot. So, i went to install my aiwa deck, so i grabbed my volt meter, went to town on finding the wires that wer +12v, ACC, and ground, which was the red and black wire that i now know i shouldnt use. So, i hooked it up like that and to the front speakers, ignoring the rear/headrests (im gonna bypass the factory amps for those later). So i turned the radio on and all is well, turn the headlights on, and bam, the radio quits working, then the illumination quits. So i pull it in, check the fuse, the illumination fuse is blown, so i replace the illumination fuse (it had a 30 amp in it instead of a 15). The new fuse is good, and it won't blow, but I can listen to the radio, and turn the headlights on, and the headlights work, but no tail lights or illumination. I checked all the fuses, and theyre all good. What did i do????
please help,
mark.
