New Seat skins

decided to go with black leather with red piping to match the exterior of the car like some of the exotics do. Though about 2 tone but would have been a bit to bright for me. Took about 4 hours yesterday to peel the old skins off and put the new ones on. Here are the end results. Will be putting them in the car this evening.

Looks really good looks like the leather could do with a little more streching though...

Good work

Hi, those seats are very, very nice! I'll remember this when I get to mine... Not at the top of the list right now, other work is to be done...

Could you put pics of them in the car up?
Thank you.

He did better than the others I've seen. That's the drawback with these seat skins. It seems impossible to get the leather cover as smooth as the original leather on the seat. It seems it inevitably bunches up and wrinkles.

I dont have a red interior, I have black, which I will be posting for sale shortly, quite good condition with 42k on them.

I got them from an upholstery shop in Texas that usually does older porcshes.

you may need to steem the leather to get the wrinkles out

steam may work, when I did my lexus the wrinkles worked them selves out after a few months of use. I plan on breaking them in when I start using the FD again next spring.

thanks for the comments guys. I did not do a how to as there is a great step by step with pic at: http://www.leatherseats.com/RX7_installation_guide1.asp

I did not buy the seats from them but found the install instructions doing a search. I got the seats from "Porsche Upholstery" and they can be reached at clicksnetcafe@hotmail.com and Johnny is the person I dealth with. I am in no way connected with them but they did great work at a more reasonable rate than others. I asked him how much he would sell sets for and he said a set like mine with piping would run $560 shipped but they can do just about anything you like design wise. Not sure what type of leather it is but it is very soft and had much more padding than the original covers which has made the seats more comfortable also. Also they did replicate every tie back and hog ring location just like the stockers.

only got 2 pics before the battery went dead but I am very happy, the pictures really do not do it justice.

So are you the one selling them for $350 or are they just using your picture?

no not my auction but it is definitely my living room lol..
He asked for some picss also as mine was the first rx7 they did. Guess now that they have a template which I had to get for them they have ready made sets. Thats convenient as I had to wait about 2 weeks for them to reverse engineer an old one I send them to make mine.

those covers do look good. Also, not on the top of my list, but would love a set in the near future. An engine is top priority right now of course.

Damn, those look good. I think it would look nicer without the red edges.
